In 2025, it became clear that the federal government was taking increasingly lawless actions against our democracy. Communities across the country began to take lessions from their local histroy, where resolutions were used to point out the tyranny of the British rule and hold them accountable. Today, Swing Left NS/CA has formed the North Shore Resolutions Project and is working with communities across the North Shore to honor our historic fight for freedom and to reafirm our rights as granted by our Constitnution.

In this year's town meeting on April 27, the town of Manchester, MA adopted a Resolution in Support of the U.S. Constitution by a 4-to-1 majority.
Citing Manchester's proud history of standing up to the tyranny of King George and listing the unlawful behavior of the current administration, the resolution calls for "the Massachusetts Congressional delegation and our state leaders to continue to exercise their legislative, administrative and legal authorities to enforce the Constitution and to work with the Judicial Branch to restore the separation of powers and all the foundational principles of our Republic."
On April 11, the residents of Rockport, MA, overwhelmingly adopted a non-binding citizen’s petition, calling on the U.S. Congress to exercise its legislative authority as a check against Trump’s “unlawful or unconstitutional actions.”

"On March 12, Salem’s City Council passed a “Resolution to Honor the Legacy of Leslie’s Retreat and the Ongoing Commitment of the City of Salem to Liberty and Justice for All.” In passing the resolution, Salem joined forces with towns across the North Shore, Massachusetts, and the country that are speaking out to defend the fundamental principles on which we’ve built the world’s most enduring democracy."
